Fear of Death
Everyone knows who was king Parikshit. He was the son of Abhimanyu and grandson of Arjuna from Kuru vans (kuru Dynasty), it was the middle Vedic period almost five thousand years ago when the Kaliyug Began. King Parikshit was protected by Lord Krishna in the womb of his Mother Uttra from a powerful Braham Astra summoned by Aswasthama.

Parikshit was born and later was throned as the heir to the Pandavas at Hastinapura. He ruled the nation for almost twenty-four years.
One day when he was cursed that he will die by the bite of Takshak nag after seven days. He got afraid and went to Sukhdev Ji. He narrated the whole incident and asked him to save his life, hearing him Sukhdev ji told him there is no method available to avoid the curse. He said, Hey king you will definitely die after seven days by the bite of serpent Takshak but you can ease the agony and pain of death only by one means. Hearing this king asked what is that muniwar? Sukhdev ji replied only by hearing Bhagwat Geeta you can come upon all pain and fear of death.

On hearing this he requested Sukhdev Ji to narrate Bhagawat Geeta for him, he pleaded him by saying that, Hey Sukhdev Ji you are a great saint who has the power to look in future you know all vedas purans and you are full of Vedic knowledge. I have to pass through a difficult time of fear and pain of death as I know my judgment day, hey muniwar accept my request and narrate the Hymes of Bhagwat Geeta to release my pain and sorrow.

Sukhdev Ji accepted his request and make necessary preparation to chant Bhagwat Geeta. It was day six of Bhagwat Geeta and there is no relief in pain and sorrow of Raja Parikshit, though he was hearing Bhagwat Geeta he was at the same time worried about his approaching death. Looking at his face Sukhdev Ji realized fear of death on his face, he told him a story.

Once there was a king who went for hunting into the deep forest, chasing his hunt he went deeper and deeper into the forest and forget the way to come out of it. Now it was turning down, he started looking for shelter . after walking a few miles he comes across a hut. It was the hut of the sick hunter who was so weak to move. For his comfort, he made a part of hut for discharging waste and he is living in rest. He has tied his eatables to the roof of the hut.

On looking at the worst and stingy condition of the hut the king got shocked and decided to move away from there but as he turned around he saw the dangerous dark forest. He again turns towards the hut with the thought to save his life by just staying there for a night.

He went into the hut and requested Bahelia to give him an overnight shelter. On this Bahelia said that he has given shelter to many people who came to me but after stay here for a night no one wants to go back, so I am sorry I can’t let you stay here. King promises him that he will not do that he will leave this hut early in the morning.
As the dusk was approaching, the king becomes comfortable with the smell and thought to stay there forever. He told the Bahelia to let him stay there for a few more days, hearing this Bahelia became angry and reminded him of his promise he made last night.

After telling this story to Parikshit,  Sukhdev Ji asked him, “Is the king was right? hearing this Parikshit said I think that the king was foolish, how can he stay there in such an unhygienic place? Again he asked who was that king Munawar (sage). Sukhdev Ji replied, He is none other than You, It is you Parikshit. Your body is a temporary hut and time of your soul is over in this hut now you have to go to another abode but you are unwilling and you are not even ready to leave this.

On hearing this Parikshit heard the last day Bhagwat Geeta without any sorrow and pain, he is so confident about his fate. He is contented and satisfied he bow down to Lord Krishna and request him some space in his Vaikuntha after his demise. Now he knows that he is not that body, nor he is that mind but he is something which cannot die but travel from one abode to another until he requests a shelter to Lord Krishna by leaving all greed’s and worldly things.

                 Jai Shree Krishna
